Bujairami Hectic Review: What Does It Actually Smell Like?
If there is one Bujairami fragrance I seem to hear about more than almost any other, it is Hectic. The name comes up constantly alongside Louis Vuitton Imagination, and once you look at the notes it is not difficult to understand why.
But I do not think “what is it inspired by?” is enough to decide whether a fragrance deserves a place in your collection. I want to know what it actually smells like, where I would wear it, what sort of person I would point towards it and, just as importantly, who I think should probably look elsewhere.
Hectic is a 100ml Extrait de Parfum and it currently sits at £49.99 at The Fragrance Cabinet. For me, the appeal is not simply that it takes inspiration from a much more expensive fragrance. It is the combination of bright citrus, spice, black tea and smooth woods that makes it feel easy to wear without becoming another forgettable fresh scent.
If you normally like clean citrus fragrances but want something with more character underneath, Hectic is one of the Bujairami bottles I would look at first. The black tea and woody base are what make it interesting to me.
Bujairami Hectic at a Glance

Not sure what Extrait de Parfum means? I explain concentrations in our beginner's fragrance guide.
What Does Bujairami Hectic Smell Like?
The first thing I notice with Hectic is how bright it feels. Citron, Calabrian bergamot and Sicilian orange give it that immediate clean citrus hit, but I would not describe the opening as simply “lemony”. There is enough going on behind it that I already get the sense it is heading somewhere warmer.
I also think that progression matters. If Hectic stayed as bright as it opens, I would probably find it a little too simple. Instead, the spice and tea slowly give the scent more depth, while the woody base keeps everything feeling clean rather than dark.
Hectic vs Louis Vuitton Imagination
There is an obvious reason these two are constantly mentioned together. Bujairami positions Hectic as inspired by Imagination, and both sit in that bright citrus, aromatic spice, black tea and modern woody direction.
I would not describe that as a reason to treat them as identical fragrances, though. That is not how I personally look at inspired-by perfumes. I find it more useful to ask whether Hectic gives you the sort of scent profile you were drawn to in the first place, and whether the different price point makes sense for how you buy fragrance.
Current UK price comparison
That is a £215.01 difference in purchase price for the same 100ml bottle volume. I prefer to call it a price difference rather than a “saving”, because you are still choosing between two different fragrances from two different brands.
So which way would I look at it?
If I already knew I loved the citrus, tea and woody direction of Imagination but did not want to spend £265 on a 100ml bottle, Hectic is an obvious fragrance I would want to smell. On the other hand, if owning the Louis Vuitton composition, bottle and brand experience matters to you, price alone is not going to make Hectic a replacement for that.
That distinction is important. I think inspired-by fragrances are at their most useful when they give you another route into a scent style you already enjoy, not when somebody tries to convince you that two bottles are literally the same thing.
When Would I Wear Hectic?
Hectic is one of those fragrances I would find very easy to work into normal life. I can picture it at work just as easily as I can on a weekend away. The freshness keeps it relaxed, while the tea and woods make it feel polished enough that I would not hesitate to wear it somewhere smarter.
Would I choose it for a date night?
I could, but it would not be my first reason for buying it. If I specifically wanted something warmer, sweeter or more seductive for evenings, there are other Bujairami fragrances I would probably reach for first. Hectic makes more sense to me as the clean, versatile option that can still carry into an evening rather than a dedicated night-out fragrance.
Is Bujairami Hectic Worth £49.99?
For me, £49.99 makes the most sense when you look at what role Hectic could actually play in your collection. It is 100ml, it is an Extrait de Parfum, and the scent profile is broad enough that I would not feel like I was buying something for one very specific occasion.
That does not mean everybody needs it. If you already own several citrus-and-tea fragrances, another bottle in the same family may not add much. But if this is a style you have wanted to explore, or you have been drawn to Imagination and the £265 price is simply more than you want to spend, I can understand why Hectic has become such an easy entry point.
